“It’s impossible to make it, just consider this 1000-dollar-ticket as a fee for lesson, do not trust people easily next time.”

I never expected so much trouble before applying for the volunteer program in Poland. Everything ran smoothly and all I needed was an invitation letter for visa.

I waited one week but I did not receive my invitation letter. I was thinking something must go wrong. I tried to contact the contact person. But I could not find her. My contact person from the AIESEC Wroclaw disappeared without any notification. The e-mails I sent her all bounced back, and texts – non-rely. I called her on phone or Skype, never answered. I was panic. The clock was ticking. I only have two weeks left before I fly. I booked the discounted ticket that was no able to change the time. Even the fastest express takes 4 days to deliver a package from Poland to China. And it takes around 7 to 14 business days for the visa process.

My parents told me to give up. “It’s impossible to make it, just consider this 1000-dollar-ticket as a fee for the lesson, do not trust people easily next time.” But I was determined. I would not give up until it is proved impossible. I search the AIESEC homepage and found the E-mail of the president of AIESEC. This little piece of E-mail address was my only hope. The chance seems slim but I had to give it a shot.

You can’t imagine how happy I was when I opened the E-mail box next morning. I received the reply from the president and she phrased it an “Emergency Situation”. And she assigned a program manager – Justyna to assist me with my invitation letter. Thanks to Justyna’s efficiency, I was able to receive my invitation letter the day before my visa application appointment! If I quitted earlier, I would not have been to Poland. I would have missed a great experience.
